I really like the stand mixer! It would probably help for it to automatically come with a guard. I wound up cleaning up some messes a couple of times bc some things just go everywhere. If it's butter and just normal things, no problem. It does a good job. Hopefully it will last forever bc they are pretty expensive. I wish it would scrape everything off the sides and top to mix better. Overall, does what it needs to do.

I think overall this is an excellent product. My only criticism is that this model, when using the larger mixing bowls (such as the one that comes with it), is not always powerful enough to move at consistent speeds throughout all of the ingredients in the bowl. I have used other models of the KitchenAid Mixer that do this job better. However, I think that this is great for the average home cook or baker. Very easy to use. If all the attachments were dishwasher safe it would be even better!

Love the tilt

I "downgraded" from my 6qt lift to a 5qt glass tilt. I really wish a 6qt glass TILT glass would be sold. So much easier to add ingredients while mixing. I wish the 2 models I had would perform better while making pizza dough. Gets loud and the mixer "jumps" on the counter and sometimes slides. And that's the low setting.

I have had a couple of Kitchenaids prior to this model. I found that I needed to get a model not as heavy as my two professional models. I purchased this model mostly because of the glass bowl, preferring to use glass when I am baking. I was scared to death when I put two King Arthur cookie mixes plus the eggs and a stick of butter in the bowl and started the mixer. I also used the flex beater as I have used that in my big mixer with great success. When the mixer started it threw mixture all over, not having as slow a startup speed as the big one, and bucked so hard it moved the head lock lever back to the unlock position and unseated the bowl. It scared me half to death and, trust me, if I could I would send it back in a heart beat. I am going to try using the regular beater as I have another of the same mix to see what happens. As far as I am concerned I would return this one and get a model with a metal bowl. I have an Ankashrum mixer that I love for bread making and most other things I do, but it doesn't like mixes with things like chips or nuts, etc in them as it breaks the teeth of the mechanism. Please take this one back and trade me for a regular one.

For the past 40 years I have made Greek cookies and pastries. I have always only had an electric hand mixer. Picture using a hand mixer with ingredients that use 5 lbs of flour and 2 lbs of butter. Recently I decided to buy this Mixer -- after hearing for years how wonderful it is. After all I will be 70 next year -- time is running short and it was now or never. It is amazing! I can't wait to make all the cookies -- I mean batches of them ( each with 5 lbs of flour) to give away at the holidays. My first batch with the mixer was a breeze! Best purchase ever!

Recently, I replaced my 12 year old KitchenAid mixer for a new Artisan mixer with a glass bowl. I love it. My old KA served me well and was still serviceable after 12 years. The new mixer stays in place, instead of walking all over the counter. The glass bowl allows me to see if batter or dough is mixed on the bottom. I am a baker and use my mixer a lot so it must be a "workhorse". KitchenAid fits the bill.
